Climb up the Preinerwand through the Preinerwandsteig (alpine tour!) and descent via the Holzknechtsteig
The tour starts at the parking Griesleitengraben (GPS: 47.683636, 15.741241) and first follows forest road upwards (can be short-cut several times). It then turns right into the Holzknechtsteig towards Preinerwand-Steig. The trail is very well marked and each crossing has appropriate signposts. Short before the Bachingerbründl spring, the Preinwandsteig finally starts. The lower part is sometimes tricky due to slippery scree fields but becomes more and more alpine while ascending. The upper part requires basic climbing skills (UIAA I), the exposed parts are however always well protected with iron cables (via ferrata A/B). After the final climb short before the exit, turn left and follow the trail towards Neue Seehütte. After a well-deserved break, the tour leads back for a couple of meters but then uses the Holzknechtsteig for descending back to the parking.
